I create narrative illustrations that bring stories, characters, and imagined worlds to life, with a particular interest in fantasy, children’s literature, and book covers.
My background in typography and graphic design allows me to bring image, type, and composition together as part of a cohesive visual experience.

She was sent away to marry a prince she'd never met. On the road there, her maid became the one friend she could truly trust — yet even after everything they'd shared, some part of her friend still believed a servant could never be anything more.
So right before they reached the palace, the princess did something impulsive: a bit of magic, a change of clothes, a joke meant to prove a point — put on something fine, and everyone will treat you like you're royalty. It was only supposed to be a joke.

At the Back of the North Wind is a contemporary reimagining of George MacDonald’s classic novel, set during the COVID-19 pandemic. The story follows a young girl who spends long days alone in her apartment while her mother works as a nurse. One night, she hears a woman’s voice carried through the door by the wind—and soon, the North Wind begins taking her on extraordinary nighttime journeys. Blurring the boundaries between dreams, memory, and illness, the story explores childhood loneliness, loss, courage, and the bond between a mother and daughter.

Fengxue Yan is a published Chinese-language middle-grade chapter book written by Yu Lai. Following a twelve-year-old boy’s journey through grief, food, memory, and family, the story presents growing up as a gradual exploration of both the wider world and his inner emotions. I illustrated the book in its entirety, creating the cover artwork, spot illustrations, and chapter illustrations as a cohesive visual system that carries the narrative throughout the book.

This thesis publication showcases my approach to editorial design and long-form visual communication. I developed the complete layout system, including the page structure, typographic hierarchy, grid, image placement, and pacing across the publication. The design balances consistency with variation, creating a cohesive reading experience while allowing each section to maintain its own visual rhythm.
